What is a PA?
​PA's are individuals who have been trained by a Certified Professional Coach to assist in the delivery of a program. They may vary in age and background  (figure skating, hockey, ringette, sledge). They must  have adequate skating skills and knowledge to be  of assistance. Roles assigned to each PA must be  appropriate for their age and ability.  ​

What will PA's do?
  • Assist with or lead warm-ups, group activities or cool down 
  • Lead circuits and rotations
  • Assist with set-up and tear-down
  • Aid skaters throughout circuits
  • Work with coaches to ensure program requirements and delivery standards are met
  • Engage and excite skaters while demonstrating skills

They must  have adequate skating skills and knowledge to be  of assistance. Roles assigned to each PA must be  appropriate for their age and ability.  ​

What will PA's do?
  • Assist with or lead warm-ups, group activities or cool down

Fall 2024 PA Training Clinic

Sign up now for CRSC’s Fall 2024 Program Assistant Training Clinic! 

The PA Training Clinic will be held on Friday, September 6 at Strathcona Gardens. New this term, the Club will be providing a Figure Skating Academy PA training program extension. PA candidates for both CanSkate and Figure Skating Academy will be notified of their eligibility via email. Important: participants must have valid 2024-2025 Skate Canada Membership in order to participate. Registration is to be completed via Uplifter.

SCHEDULE
3:30-4:00pm Classroom Theory Training - Pinecrest Room
4:15-5:15pm   On-Ice Practical Training - Rink 1
5:30-6:00pm Classroom Theory Training - Pinecrest Room
6:00-6:30pm Figure Skating Academy PA Training Extension - Pinecrest Room
WHAT TO BRING
Please bring your skates, a water bottle, and dress appropriately (layers are recommended). Due to the length and time of the session, skaters are welcome to bring a snack/small meal to eat during the classroom portion.

​Sign up for your PA sessions online!

​Welcome to the Spring 2024 CanSkate season!
 
Click on the button below to see all available CanSkate sessions for the Spring term and sign up for the classes you’re able to assist with. All PAs will sign up using the same link.
 
CanSkate runs four days a week this Spring – classes run on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 515-5:45pm, plus a new Saturday morning class from 9:15-10:00am.
 
Please make sure you’ve read the PA Policy before signing up. Contact Jade if you have any questions or concerns.

Reminders:

We’ll be skating on Rink 1 for the first week only (April 2-6), then we'll be on Rink 2 for the remainder of the season (April 8-June 15).

There will be no CanSkate on Saturday May 18th or Monday May 20th, due to the Victoria Day long weekend.​

Theme Days and “Bring a Friend” Week
 
We have two theme weeks planned for the Spring season – PA’s are encouraged to add to the fun by dressing up or wearing accessories that match that theme.

Bring a Friend Week will be April 22-27! Registered CanSkaters will be allowed to invite a friend to join them on their session. We'll be looking for lots of help during this week, so keep your calendar open if you can!

May Flowers Theme Week  April showers bring May flowers! From May 6-11, celebrate springtime by wearing patterns or accessories that feature flowers, plants, butterflies or bumblebees!  ​

Fall 2023 PA Training Clinic

​Sign up now for CRSC’s Fall 2023 PA Training Clinic! 

The PA Training Clinic will be held on Tuesday, September 5, from 4:30pm-7:00pm at Strathcona Gardens. PA candidates will be notified of their eligibility via email. 

There will be two parts to this training:
  - Classroom training from 4:30-5:45 PM (in the Pinecrest Room)
  - On-ice training from 6:00-7:00 PM (on Rink 1)
 
Due to the length and time of the session, skaters are welcome to bring a snack/small meal to eat during the classroom portion.  
 
Please bring your skates, a water bottle, and dress appropriately (layers are recommended).
